HUNTINGDON Olympic Gymnastics Club member Daniel Keatings has led Great Britain's juniors to their best result in international history.
Keatings, 18, captained the team to gold at the European Championships in Lausanne while helping himself to four individual medals and the title of individual European champion.
The Huntingdon youngster won gold in the pommel, silver in the floor exercises and the parallel bars to earn overall gold for himself and a medal of the same colour for his team.
And with London due to host the 2009 World Championships, this success could just be the start of a glorious future for British gymnastics.
Club coach Paul Hall said: “This performance by the GB team has shown that we can fight for podium places in the Olympic Games. Huntingdon has a new junior European Champion in Daniel and a squad of gymnasts that can do great things in the next four years.”
Keatings, along with club mate Louis Smith, must now wait to discover if he has made the squad for this summer’s Olympic Game in Beijing.
