Yaxley motorcycle racer Rob Hoyles stormed to his second race win in as many weeks at a scorching Brands Hatch last weekend.
Having taken his first win of the season just a fortnight ago at Snetterton, Hoyles was using the National MRO Supersport Championship to test Bridgestone's latest race tyres.

Luck wasn't on Hoyles' side on the Saturday though, with an electrical fault forcing the 33-year-old to pull out of the first race while an uncharacteristic crash at Druids dashed his hopes of glory in the second race.

Undeterred, Hoyles put in two stylish performances on the Sunday to prove that he can win races at both Thundersport GB and MRO level.

He said: "This race meeting was just for fun really. I'd been asked by Bridgestone to give some feedback on their tyres and I have to say after this test I'm really impressed.

"We didn't really get the bike set up to suit the tyres and I had a few handling issues. Even with these issues though, I matched my lap times set on my usual Pirelli rubber, so they can't be too bad!"

Sunday's races were action-packed with Hoyles fighting for top honours with Tom Dean, a rider who's improved massively over the last couple of seasons.

"The first race was great with some real bar-to-bar action" Hoyles enthused. "We swapped positions countless times throughout the race as well as a bit of paint!

"Tom was stronger on the brakes into Druids, so I made sure that once I got in front on the last lap I kept the door firmly shut."

The second race wasn't quite so successful for Hoyles after he made a bad start, dropping down to around eighth place before fighting through the pack to finish ahead of Dean but second to a hard-riding Chase Collyer.

"I had a bit of a problem getting the bike off the line all weekend, to be honest, which kind of made the race hard work," added Hoyles.

"I was gaining on Chase for a while but then got mired by backmarkers and ran out of laps.

"The clutch problems turned out to be wear on the basket – after two years of racing the bike is getting a little tired now so things like this are to be expected.

"X-Bikes of Wisbech have given the machine a thorough service now though, so hopefully we've ironed out any faults ahead of this weekend's Thundersport 600 championship race at Mallory Park – now that I've started winning again, I don't want to stop just yet!"
