STEPHEN Mastin showed all his 'six' appeal to become the hottest shot in the Peugeot Premier Division with a stunning scoring feat on the final day of the season.
Hampton hot-shot Mastin hammered all six goals as the runners-up smashed Peterborough Sports 6-2 in their last-ever game. Hampton are folding with manager Paul Humphries and several key players bound for Whittlesey next season.

The half-dozen haul catapulted Mastin to the top of the scoring charts with 23 league goals – one more than suspended team-mate Glen Gilbert and Whittlesey marksman Simon Acton.

And Hampton are no strangers to boasting the most prolific players in Peterborough's leading league – last season Gilbert grabbed the golden boot from then-sidekick Andy Wayte.

Boss Humphries said: "Stephen has scored every single one of his goals in the league but Glen has got more in total because he has stuck a few away in the cups.

"To have the top two scorers for the second season running is a great achievement and it has obviously helped us finish as runners-up.

"That is not something I would have expected at the start of the season but no-one can begrudge us it because we have pulled well clear of the teams below us."

All roads now lead to Whittlesey for Humphries as he takes on a big new challenge.

He added: "I would think there will be four or five lads coming over to Whittlesey from Hampton, but I am not interested in putting together a completely new side there.

"I have watched Whittlesey in action this season and don't think a lot needs to be done there. Whittlesey is the sort of club where playing local lads is important and that is something I intend to do."

Peterborough Sports boss James Brattan is still undecided on his future at the club.

Chris Neville and Mark Wyer found the net for Sports as the season ended on a low note.

Brattan said: "My future is still in the balance. The club want me to stay and I will make a decision by the time pre-season training starts on June 10."

THE curtain will finally come down on the famous Perkins football club on Saturday.

The club have organised a final reunion at their Newark Road base (10.30am start) which will include a tournament between the current first team, reserve team and a veterans side during the day and the club's presentation night.

First team manager Alex Brown said: "It is one last get-together and we would like to see as many people as possible from down the years."

Anyone interested in playing for the vets team can call manager Rob Papworth on 07816 117976 or Alex Brown on 07733 332481.
