Posh came from behind to secure a deserved, yet controversial, win at local rivals MK Dons.
Dons had taken the lead in the 63rd minute when a mishit shot by Ali Gerba was deflected into the net by the diving Craig Morgan.
But four minutes later Posh were awarded a penalty when substitute Dominic Green's cross was handled by Alan Navarro.
Dons were annoyed that Posh played on when their goalkeeper Willy Gueret lay injured on the floor after saving at the feet of Craig Mackail-Smith.
Gueret did initially get to his feet, but appeared to drop down again when seeing the ball had fallen to Green.
And four minutes later the 18-year-old left winger fired home a loose a ball from inside the area to clinch the points.
Posh should have won by more Shaun Batt hit the post twice in the first-half and Gueret saved superbly when Mackail-Smith was sent through by Boyd.

Posh: Joe Lewis, Russell Martin, Tommy Williams, Craig Morgan, Gaby Zakuani, Chris Whelpdale, Micah Hyde, Paul Coutts, George Boyd, Shaun Batt, Craig Mackail-Smith.
Subs: Scott Rendell, Mark Tyler, Chris Westwood, Dominic Green, Charlie Lee.
Mk Dons: Willy Gueret, Carl Regan, Sean O'Hanlon, Miguel Llera, Mark Wright, Shaun Cummings, Alan Navarro, Peter Leven, Ali Gerba, Aaron Wilbraham.
Subs: Nathan Abbey, Jude Stirling, Jermal Johnson, Sam Baldock, Flavien Belson.
Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffs).

Team news and updates will appear here later.

Very good performance from Posh. Closed us down well, were inventive and dangerous in attack and committed in defence. I think probably the best performing team we have played against so far this season.

Sadly, the premier officials were poor (lino should be investigated for blocking a corner and play was allowed to go on despite Gueret being studded), but then so were our tactics and performance.

Posh were deserved winners today. I look forward to the return leg when I expect us to be a whole lot better.

Well said Sonnyjim. A goalkepper should always be vocal, he is the main Man in the penalty box .

Quote from Championship today:

"Posh were far from classy by playing on when the goalkeeper was injured' (or something like that). Was it a case of winning at any price or were the events leading to ethical? What do you think?

Nothing to do with it, The Championship are continually kissing MK Dons backsides so it didnt suprise me to see them say such rubbish.

The goalkeeper was on his feet untill he realised we were still in posession, he got exactly what his gamesmanship deserved, he is a good keeper, but a prize idiot to go with it. The defender was lucky not to get sent off, its the refs job to stop the game not his.

That must be it...feign injury and leave the goal open with you still in possession. Smart thinking Willie.

I thimnk he did cos I think he expected to get the whistle. I think most wouldve done the same, since you scored willie was time wasting and who asked the player to punch the ball, carry on playing he coulda headed it, it was by no means a certain goal!!

Either way, does it matter, the points are POSH's pointless arguement!

Having had the benefit of seeing the replay on Virgin Media, I am now incensed with the decision making for the penalty. CMS went with a two footed challenge studs up in to Gueret's midriff that should've been a card if not a sending off. CMS must've know that, even though 50/50 his challenge would hurt Gueret whther he got the ball or not.

As for Gueret 'getting up', as has been claimed, he went on his elbow for 3 seconds before collapsing again.

The ref turned the game.

Posh deserved the win through the better football but did not through fair play.

Still, you got your win at last. Hopfully posh won't need to injure our players again to get another one.
