Golden oldies still going very strongly
ASHTON Wold are claiming the oldest catching cordon in local cricket with three players with a combined age of 195 in prime fielding positions during the Derek Rawson memorial match against Tolethorpe.
John ‘Sugar’ Ray (67) and Jeremy Firth (71) both fielded at slip alongside wicket-keeper Stewart Francis (57).
Firth and Ray held catches during the game, while Francis, a relative spring chicken, took four catches the previous weekend.
