Crowd congestion caused a fifteen minute delay at London Road, but there was to be no Cup upset for Posh against Premier League West Brom.
Too many people trying to get into the ground meant the kick-off was delayed until 8pm.

Jay Simpson, in only his second game while on loan from Arsenal, puts West Brom ahead after 18 minutes with a shot into the right-hand corner from outside the area.

Simpson had the been the subject of loan interest by Posh themselves in late 2008 before he made the move to West Brom.

In the 37th minute Paul Robinson scored the Baggies second after Posh fail to clear a free-kick.

West Brom had more chances while Charlie Lee came closest to scoring for Posh.

Team news:
Midfielder Paul Coutts misses tonight's FA Cup replay with West Brom at London Road because of illness.

Charlie Lee moves up from left-back to midfield with Tommy Williams returning to the starting line-up.

West Brom make a handful of changes to the side that lost at Aston Villa on Saturday, but one-time Posh target Jay Simpson starts.

Posh: Lewis, Martin, Morgan, Zakuani, Williams, Lee, Keates, Whelpdale, Boyd, Mclean, Mackail-Smith.
Subs: Batt, Green, Torres, Webb, Gaughran, Blanchett, McKeown.

West Brom: Carson, Hoefkens, Robinson, Barnett, Donk, Greening, Teixiera, Koren, Kim, Bednar, Simpson.
Subs: Kiely, Brunt, Beattie, Moore, Dorrans, Pele, Valero.

Answered a lot of questions about our players.

One or two bright spots but generally a poor and clueless display by team and manager.

Several players showed that they have reached their limit but Gaby, CMS, Lewis, Martin and probably Morgan showed they are capable of taking the step up. There remain question marks about McLean and especially Boyd who does not appear to have what it takes (to make the step up) inside him.

Others are just not good enough and were quite embarrassing.

We certainly missed Coutts and yet again we learned more about what we need than what we have.

Sadly we made West Brom look far better than they actually are

Got West Brom on a good day. But the league is more important, especially with more Tuesday games to come.
But why with an attendance of just over 10,000 why was there a crowd delay?
What an embarrassment to the club - and the fans.
With only 5-6,000 sales in advance, there was NO indication of any foreseeable entry problems prior to people setting off.
Yet it was a shambles before we got in. Hundreds must have walked away. Yet thousands of seats remained empty.
You would think the club had money to throw away.
Learn how to pre-warn people about the importance of advance purchase if you can't run ticket sales on the gate.
This is the UK in 2009. Not an African Nations tournament in the 1980s.
An organisation joke.

Agree with the above, we really missed Coutts. Arrived at 1850 walked straight in, no queue, when will fans who turn up infrequently learn that turn up early doesn't mean 15 minutes before kick off. WBA were worthy winners, good luck in the competition.

Somebody joined the queue just before seven pm, they didn't get in till well gone 8pm. Every other club manage to get people into the ground without any trouble, the club need to get their act together if they really want to cut it with the big boys in the near future!

Which qyuue was that Ashman because the S Stand lower entrances had no problems at that time, it was only after 1915 that real queues began.

As a fan of 35 years standing I can assure Rogerlechat that I am savvy enough to know that the Posh infrastructure can't handle a decent crowd. I was at the ground queing at 1900 hrs. Only to be turned away by stewards who continually misinformed those wishing to pay on the gate, that this provision had been withdrawn. Iickets had to be purchased from the main stand ticket office which couldn't cope with the demand on its very limited resource. I would also be interested to know how Roger Lechat can be in two places at once as he was in the stadium at 1850hrs, and yet he knows all about the crowd situation outside the stadium at 1915hrs.

The real queue`s came form London Rd end and the main stand. London Rd was shut form 7pm last night because of congestion, a majority went to the freemans stand, even then they only allowed a limited number of people in paying cash, the rest had to have tickets. What a shambles, if you sell 6000 tickets in 2 days alarm bells should be ringing, because you know thousands more will turn up.

We caught West Brom on a good day, they maybe bottom of the premiership but they have had a good couple of wins latley and should not have lost to Villa - who are third in the prem.

Stop putting Posh down - we will go up, we have strenght and determination.

Would love Posh to go up, but why is it that several players only seem to play to their potential when it suits them? How else can you explain the difference in the 2 performances against WBA? Could it be that the media attention / TV cameras etc. at The Hawthorns gave them an opportunity to tout themselves?

Amateurs, end of.
Off the pitch the club is a joke still. We could all predict the number of pretendaposhies who would turn up, and still they couldn't cope.
Leicester and West Brom have shown where Posh are on the playing front, firmly Div 1 at the moment

Exactly, ignoring the ill-informed smugness of Roger Lechat, the fact is Posh officials screwed up.
They could have had 1-2,000 or so more people in at £20 a pop.
All they had to do was say there would be no tickets sales at the gate. Buy/collect in advance.
Or at least make it clear on their website/media that the infrastructure can't cope with crowds of more than 8,000, so get there a good one hour in advance.
Anyhow, on to Saturday. I'd get there four hours in advance. At least then you might be able to find someone that knows what's going on.
