POSH have taken a top level French defender on trial.
Florian Boucansaud has started a week-long stay at London Road as he bids to convince Posh boss Darren Ferguson he deserves a deal.

The 28 year-old was released by FC Caen following their relegation from Ligue 1 (the French Premier Division) at the end of last season.

Boucansaud started his professional career by spending four seasons at FC Gueugnon. He then switched to Troyes where, according to French media reports, his time was blighted by a fall-out with his coach.

From there Boucansaud moved to FC Caen in 2007 but only appeared three times during his first season with the club. He was a far more frequent performer last season, playing 16 games as they were relegated from the top-flight. He has scored five times.

Posh director of football Barry Fry said: "Florian met up with the lads at St Albans on Tuesday night and he will spending a week training with us before playing in a friendly at Kettering next Wednesday.

"Someone contacted both myself and Darren (Ferguson, the Posh manager) about him and Darren (right) decided to get him over. The manager wants to have a good look at him in training and then watch him in a game as well.

"Once that's happened we will then take things from there. The fact that he has played so many games in the top league in France shows he is no mug."

Posh's chase for young Stockport County defender Josh Thompson is still in limbo. Fry revealed the club are still awaiting an answer on the second bid they made for the 17 year-old.

County are in the process of trying to come out of administration and Fry added: "The Football League tell me that hasn't happened yet and I think there might be a few problems up there which is probably why they haven't come back to us.

"If this bid is eventually rejected, I would think it is a certainty that we won't go back again."

Fry revealed the club's long-term Premier League defensive loan target is not now expected to move to London Road. He continued: "Ajax are apparently looking at the lad so I would say it is unlikely he will come here. It shows we are looking at the right players though."

3+16 = 19 games in 2 seasons, Barry. Not a great record and Caen sank like a stone. Now that Joel Cantona, how did we let him get away!

I think the last french player we gave a trial to was Claude Gnakpa. He turned out to be ok, hopefully Boucansaud will be a good player.

What happened to the "Premier League defender" who was supposed to come in on loan at the start of July?

Can't you read?

Is he a versatile player?

Browsing images of Florian on Google, it seems as if he can significantly change his appearance at will(unless he had left a Citroen parked on his head overnight before the above shot was taken).

I can read. And "it's unlikely" is a lot different than "he's not" you rude, tactless jack*ss. And "it's unlikely" is a lot different than "he's coming" which is what the club were saying all along, so go scr*w.

Why is it on this site that whenever someone posts something another doesn't like, there's no debate or diplomatic disagreement, it's just instantly with the personal attacks and insults? Is this how all Peterborough folk are, or is it just a few loud-mouthed scum like jespomo?

Ahahaha, loud mouth scum? I ask you the question of can't you read? And yet you come out with words like jackass etc. and then call me loud mouth scum? Reading the comments on the ET website has always been hilarious because of the huge amount of hypocritical rubbish people post on here.
