The event was held as part of the Oundle Festival and Beard, a member of Nene Valley Harriers and PACTRAC, led all the way – despite not being fully fit due to a fractured elbow suffered when falling over a barrier in a Southern Men's League fixture last month.

The 43 year-old, who had cycled to the event from his Bretton home, has a personal best of 15.49 but didn't need to run anywhere near that time to win.
