TITLE-WINNING manager Tuncay Kokrmaz is convinced he has assembled his best Deeping squad.
Korkmaz, who guided the club to an unexpected United Counties League Premier Division title success in 2006/07 during his first season of management, is thrilled to bits with the results of a busy summer recruitment drive as Deeping prepare to launch
a bid for a top-three finish and promotion.
He has snapped up a whole host of impressive signings and been boosted by star striker Danny Matson's decision to snub a move to Stamford to remain at the club.
The Rangers chief has captured the former Blackstones trio of defender Danny Hussey, midfielder Andy Boome and frontman Ashley Stevens, landed ex-Holbeach and Stamford attacker Kev Childs, and persuaded championship winner Mark Baines to return to the club.
"We haven't kicked a ball competitively yet, but I have no doubt this is the best squad I have managed to put together at the club," said Korkmaz.
"We are a club with big ambitions. That means winning promotion this season and I certainly feel we have the players to achieve it.
"The players who have come in all possess a lot of quality and add to what we already had at the club.
"But our squad is not the only thing that has got stronger . . . the whole league has.
"There are a lot of clubs making quality signings and I think the standard of the Premier Division this season will be really high."
Deeping, who were held to a 0-0 draw at city side Peterborough Northern Star last night, will get a chance to monitor the progress being made by Bourne when the two sides meet tomorrow. They entertain the Wakes at Outgang Road (3pm) in the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Shield.
Arch rivals Spalding and Holbeach also do battle at the Sir Halley Stewart Field which has a fina and third/fourth place play-off scheduled for Tuesday.
Bourne are expected to field former Stamford and Spalding defender Graham Bowater against Deeping.
