MARTIN Adams bowed out in the last 32 of the Welsh Open yesterday – the first event in the new BDO International Grand Prix series.
Adams went down to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of eventual semi-finalist Adam Norris at Pontins in Prestatyn – falling two rounds before the televised stages.

He said: "I am reasonably satisfed with how I played. I missed a dart at double top for a 120 checkout which would have made it 1-1 against Norris but instead I found myself 2-0 down and it is very hard to come back in a best-of-five-legs game."

The tournament attracted more than 1000 players. It was won by Scottish thrower Gary Anderson who beat reigning world champion Mark Webster 4-0 in the final.

Adams' next event is the BDO international Open next month – the second of the five tournaments comprising the grand prix series.
