CITY puncher Brodie Caine went back to his roots to get his promising professional career back on track.
Caine made it two wins out of two with a four-round points win over Jamie Norkett in their light-heavyweight clash at Watford in his first fight since last December.
A back injury had kept the former national schoolboy champion and ABA semi-finali
st on the sidelines since his professional debut, but he showed no signs of ring rust against Norkett.
He dominated from the first bell against a tall, wiry southpaw with more professional experience and an eight pounds weight advantage to take the points verdict 39-37.
Caine is currently based in London and trains at Gleasons Gym, but the 26 year-old has been coming back to his Gunthorpe home at weekends and has worked with Phil Prout at Peterborough Arena School of Boxing's gym.
"Phil has been opening the gym for me on Sunday mornings and it's been a great help for me," said Caine. "He helped keep me sharp and it paid off.
"I'm just glad to come back with a win and now I'm looking to build on it."
Caine wants a quick return to the ring and is hoping to secure a contract with David Haye's Hayemaker Promotions.
Michael Maguire, Peterborough's former world-class amateur, has already signed with former world cruiserweight champion Haye and Caine said: "I'm hoping to get a few more wins and then sign a contract with them."
