KENNETH Bjerre roared back to his best as Panthers breathed a huge sigh of relief last night.
The man riding through the effects of a broken femur top-scored with 11+1 points as the city side returned to winning ways with a comfortable 52-42 triumph over Belle Vue at the Showground.

And Bjerre followed up his double-figure display by warning future opponents that both his and the entire Panthers team's confidence has been boosted.

Bjerre said: "The secret to scoring well for me is making good starts.

"I haven't been doing that in England and just when I was getting things right I suffered the injury.

"It has taken me a few weeks to come back from that and I have had some bad meetings, especially at Belle Vue on Monday which was a real disappointment.

"So it was good to get back scoring the sort of points I should be getting all the time. I am really enjoying riding again and this performance will definitely give me and the whole team more confidence."

Panthers team boss Trevor Swales toasted the success of his tinkering to the club's riding order after swapping round second strings Claus Vissing and Henning Bager.

But after savouring this success Swales warned his riders not to take victory for granted when lowly Wolverhampton provide the opposition next Thursday.

Swales said: "The boys concerned all seemed happy with the changes to the team when I announced them and they seemed to work very well.

"It was vital we put the two points for a win on the board and now we have to build on this success. What we cannot afford is to slip up against Wolverhampton who have plenty of riders that go well around our place."

Panthers remain in seventh place in the Elite League, three points above Wolves and Coventry who occupy the relegation zone.
