"Following the past weeks of uncertainty and unrest in regard to my position with the football club I would like to make the following statement."
"Following the past weeks of uncertainty and unrest in regard to my position with the football club I would like to make the following statement.

I have asked for my transfer request to be withdrawn and have agreed to sign a new 4 year contract with Peterborough United. I have purposely not commented during this troubled period as my passion and desire for the football club, the Chairman, the Manager, my team-mates and the supporters has never changed.

The purpose of this statement is to explain to the fans of Peterborough United Football Club the reasons behind my transfer request and to explain it has nothing to do with greed or me not being happy at the club. A small percentage of negative publicity is having an adverse effect on my family and this is, another reason for me wanting to release this statement.

I saw that submitting a transfer request would enable me to fulfill a lifelong dream of playing in the Premier League within a short period of time. I will always play with 110% commitment and will without doubt continue to do so for the fans, club, and my family and team mates, who have been great from the moment I made my debut.

Since joining the club I have worked tirelessly to help promote and sustain the good work that Peterborough United FC has and continues to do within the local community. I have enjoyed this immensely and have made many friends whilst doing this.

I am very lucky to be a professional footballer and you never know how long this great career will last. When Wolves made an offer for me I believed at the time this would help me reach my goal of playing at the highest level and to help me to become financially secure, enabling me to look after my family better. There were no other hidden motives in handing in a written transfer request. I discussed this with my family and my agent and we agreed this was the best path for us at that time.

I am not aware of anybody representing me making statements to the press, local or national nor have we made personal comments about the chairman or his financial situation. This is the first time I have commented on the matter.

I hope this now brings closure to these events and allows me to concentrate on pulling on the shirt and playing with the pride and determination that I hope has always been seen as my trademark and score the goals that will once again bring success to our club.

It is an honour playing for the club, with its supportive fans and great Chairman, Mr Macanthony who I know all harbour the same ambitions as myself. I was Darragh's first signing and Posh have given me the platform to make me the player I am but I am only as good as those around me. I am glad to put outside interferences behind me and concentrate on an exciting season with Posh."

Fair play Aaron, good to see that you have the b***s to stand up and make sure everyone knows where you want to be.

There may be a few people who will still doubt what you say, the only way to prove that you mean what you say, is keep putting the ball in the net for The Posh the season. Hope you have a great season fella.

Spot on Mr Peterborough!

As the saying goes 'Words are cheap' something McLean appears not to do. I wouldn’t mind earning half his old salary in these difficult times when all I’ve been offered is 2.8% over three years and 2.8% of sod all is nothing.

In my opinion he is going to have to work even harder and show more commitment this season seeing he thought he was far superior to the rest of his teammates.

Well done Aaron Mclean, anyone no matter what position in life they are, want to go out and better themselves, this is only natural. This should not have been held against you like it did with some fans writing negative comments etc etc. I to would like to see you play Prem football and hopefully with Posh.

The commitment and desire to play last season was credit to yourself and I hope that this nows continues.

Good luck Aaron and good luck POSH.

Ferguson and McAnthony - both legends.

So because Wolves don't want him anymore as they have signed someone else. He decides that he now wants to stay and signs a new contract. If I used the words I want to use for this my post would be removed so I will not bother. However I will say; if anyone believes that to be loyal then they are sadly deluded. We should have got rid when we had the chance.

Would all you people giving this guy stick please get a life?

Given the opportunity none of us would do any different, and was for Wolves not wanting him, what a load of cobblers, they just wont be held to ransom which is what DMac was doing....

Just get on with it for god sake!!!
