STIBBINGTON racehorse owner Ritchie Baines found the perfect way to celebrate his 21st wedding anniversary ... with a £100,000 winner at Sandown.
Baines and wife celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on Friday and the city businessman then celebrated the biggest win of his life on Saturday as Ask The Butler won the £100,000 Best Odds Guaranteed At betinternet.com Stakes.

Ridden by Dane O'Neill, Ask The Butler came with a strong late challenge to get the better of Lang Shining in a driving finish to record his third win in four outings this year.

Luberon and Watamu had earlier set a furious early gallop which played right into the hands of the winner, who is trained by Luca Cumani.

"This horse has plenty of stamina and loves to challenge between horses. The fast pace was perfect," said the winning jockey who was recording his second victory on the improving four-year-old.

Cumani's other runner, Swop, looked the likely winner before the one furlong to go pole, but his stamina started to empty.

Ask The Butler and Swop finished first and third as 6-1 joint-favourites in the race with the former shading it by three-quarters of a length.

Cumani was quick to nominate the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket in early October as his next possible target for which he was made a general 12-1 chance.

"The Cambridgeshire is a possibility for Ask The Butler but he must have fast ground and we will see what the handicapper does," said Cumani.

"He came to me in March and has improved so much. Swop ran a great race too – I don't like having two fancied horses in the same race and I feel sorry he has been beaten – but the Cambridgeshire is very much a possibility for him too."
