RISING reserve star Claus Vissing wants to play a starring role in a bright Panthers future.
The popular Danish racer was unveiled as a full club asset during a fans' forum last night – a move which provided a big boost on the eve of tonight's crucial final meeting of the regular season.
Panthers have to beat rock-bottom Wolverhampton at the Showground to stand any chance of escaping the bottom two and avoiding a relegation play-off against the same opponents.
Vissing is the first rider bought by new Panthers owner Rick Frost. Club bosses refused to confirm whether Vissing is part of their plans for next season, but it is understood he has been earmarked for a reserve berth alongside Karol Zabik.
Vissing said: "I have had a great time since coming into the Elite League and I love riding for Peterborough.
"It is really nice to become an asset of the club and I hope I can have a lot of years racing here.
"The club has had some problems this year but I think it has a bright future – and hopefully I will only get better as a rider as well.
"I should be able to score more points away from home now I have experience on all the tracks and I just hope I get a contract for next year."
Panthers team boss Trevor Swales admitted the club are keen to add more young talent to their already classy asset base.
He said: "We have one of the strongest asset bases in the league but we are keen to bring in more up-and-coming young riders."
