PANTHERS will have to rely on others to keep them out of the Elite League relegation play-offs despite another home success last night.
The city side beat Ipswich 52-40 at The Showground, but remain in the drop zone. Panthers must now beat rock-bottom Wolverhampton in their final meeting at Alwalton on Thursday and hope rivals Belle Vue slip up in their final fixture at home to Coventry next Monday. (See league table)

Panthers and Belle Vue are level on points with one fixture apiece remaining, but Belle Vue have a vastly superior points difference.

Polish rider Karol Zabik scored five points for Panthers last night after the club peformed a dramatic U turn to keep him in the city.

Zabik was sacked on Sunday, but after crisis talks with Panthers' management yesterday, he signed a contract which will keep him at The Showground until the end of next year.
