SPEEDWAY: Panthers chiefs remain convinced that they can survive the threat of relegation despite plummeting back into the Elite League danger-zone.
Coventry's surprise success at Eastbourne on Saturday night sent the city side down to second-bottom as a three-horse race to dodge a relegation play-off gathers pace.

Panthers are two points adrift of both the Bees and Belle Vue ahead of an exciting conclusion to the regular season, but they can improve their position tonight by beating Ipswich at the Showground (7.30pm) ahead of a Thursday visit of rock-bottom Wolverhampton.

Team boss Trevor Swales said: "I am expecting the boys to go out tonight with all guns blazing. Being back in the bottom two is not ideal but we firmly believe we have the class to get out of the relegation zone and we intend to prove it on the track this week."

Panthers sacked Karol Zabik over the weekend after he publicly declared his desire to join Poole next year.

Remaining fixtures: Panthers - Ipswich (h), Wolves (h); Coventry - Swindon (h), Ipswich (a), Belle Vue (a); Belle Vue - Coventry (h).
