RUTLAND Rangers continued their rich vein of form by condemning Pinchbeck to a first league defeat.
A classy Jamie Forbes strike set Rangers on the way to a 4-0 win. Brothers Michael (2) and Richard Nelson did the rest as they moved to within a point of leaders Ramsey.

"We didn't have to play very well, but Jamie's goal was a cracker," said manager Andy Saddington.

Rutland keeper Shane Hicks pulled off three smashing saves to earn his second clean sheet of the season.

Pinchbeck boss Pete Roberts, who saw defender Tim Smith sent off late on, said: "Ten points from five games is certainly no disaster given they have all been away. It will be nice to have a home game this weekend."

Normal service was resumed for Leverington.

Wayne Garner's men have suffered two six-goal drubbings and lost heavily to Wimblington in recent weeks, but a 1-0 success over Alconbury on Saturday was much more like it.

Martin Ryan headed the only goal from Marley Coe's free-kick. Garner said: "I don't think I have ever been happier with a 1-0 and I'll gladly take a few more of them. Keeping a clean sheet was very important after the last few results."
