ALCONBURY believe they have captured the best Polish footballer in Peterborough.
Krzsyztof Maciantowicz won rave reviews when making his debut in a 5-2 win over struggling Crowland.

"Our Polish lads tell me he is quality," said Alconbury boss Barry Gregory. "They think he is the best Pole around here and he looked really good."

Housemates Lee Deane and Shakeel Tolcher both bagged braces for Alconbury with Gary Gibbs also netting.

New Peterborough Sports striker Mark Wyer hit a debut hat-trick . . . and still ended up on the losing side.

The city men went down 5-3 at home to relegation-threatened Uppingham for whom Andy Sayers (3) and Joe Clarke (2) did the damage.

"We didn't really deserve it, but it is a great help," said Uppingham official Michael Beaver. "If we can beat Crowland and Stamford Bels now we should be okay."

James Patrick snapped his barren streak when scoring twice in Leverington's 3-0 win at Deeping Sports as those sides met for the second successive Saturday.

"We played ever so well," said Leverington boss Wayne Garner.

"We need to stand up and be counted," grumbled Deeping boss Simon Dethick.
