Patched-up Posh claimed a superb victory at fellow promotion candidates Walsall.
Posh coasted through the second-half after goals from Shaun Batt and Chris Whelpdale had given them a 2-0 half-time lead.

Walsall pulled a goal back with the last action of the match through a Troy Deeney header from a corner.

Batt struck after just 64 seconds after superb work from Craig Mackail-Smith. Goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin made a smart save from Batt's shot, but the striker cooly headed home the rebound to claim his first goal for the club.

Whelpdale shot home from the edge of the area with his weaker left foot on 42 minutes after accepting Russell Martin's precise pass.

Posh dominated the first-half and Gilmartin had to save well from Mackail-Smith and Batt.

Posh struck the woodwork twice in the second-half through a deflected George Boyd shot and a Mackail-Smith strike after Boyd had played him through.

Makeshift central defenders Charlie Lee and Kieran Charnock deserve great credit for their display together.

Posh were further boosted by the second-half appearance of striker Aaron Mclean who was a surprise choice of substitute after five weeks out with a dislocated elbow.

Nearly half the world is starving and PB is gorging on humble pie after every match...this can't be right. C'mon PB time to get behind the team..Well played Posh.

Ah yes Roger, where is the one with more negatives than Kodak? You can tell when POSH win, he doesn't appear.

Good win today given central defence not there. Lee done a great job - mind you, he did serve his apprenticeship at Spurs in that position despite the nightmare at Gigg Lane last term.

I would have settled for a point there today but 3, get in there.

There is still the issue that we miss so many opportunities which is something that hasn't changed since the start of this campaign, except to say that we are taking some. Look at today & last week. We should have scored 4 in both games.

So, on to Carlisle next week. Now they are a bogey team so if we do come away with 3 points that really will put down a marker!

It'll also ensure PB stays off here again.

Fantastic result, considering the makeshift defence.

Where is that moaning tart they call PB. Get behind you team or keep it closed. You obviously do know as much about football as you first thought.

This league is anyones, lets starting beating the foxes and few other top table teams...then we will really know what we are made of or not. Its still early days and the team has just starting to gel nicely. Hence the results. After Christmas is when we will know more if we are automatic promotion material. At presnt there are clear signs we are playoff promotion material. Either way Posh are going to be there, or there abouts. I am proud off what they have acheived so far.

It's cruel, when blokes who played like they did today get dropped for returning internationals. Especially given the opposition!
