Posh claimed an historic victory over 'mighty' Leeds thanks to second-half goals from George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith.
Posh were excellent after the break combining swift attacking play with resolute defence.
Boyd's goal in the first minute after the break was a real bonus.
Russell Martin and Shaun Batt combined superbly down the right wing and the latter's cross was driven back across goal by Dominic Green for Boyd to tap in from close range.
The Leeds players felt that Green had handled while controlling the cross, but there was no disputing the second goal converted by Mackail-Smith in the 90th minute after a great burst by Martin down the right.
Leeds enjoyed plenty of possession, but they were let down to often by a poor final ball.
Posh also defended strongly and yielded few chances, although they had an escape when Joe Lewis spilled a shot from Neil Kilkenny.
Luciano Becchio converted the rebound, but was flagged off-side.
The official attendance was 13,100 to watch the first ever Football League meeting between the sides.
