Posh claimed an historic victory over 'mighty' Leeds thanks to second-half goals from George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith.
Posh were excellent after the break combining swift attacking play with resolute defence.

Boyd's goal in the first minute after the break was a real bonus.

Russell Martin and Shaun Batt combined superbly down the right wing and the latter's cross was driven back across goal by Dominic Green for Boyd to tap in from close range.

The Leeds players felt that Green had handled while controlling the cross, but there was no disputing the second goal converted by Mackail-Smith in the 90th minute after a great burst by Martin down the right.

Leeds enjoyed plenty of possession, but they were let down to often by a poor final ball.

Posh also defended strongly and yielded few chances, although they had an escape when Joe Lewis spilled a shot from Neil Kilkenny.

Luciano Becchio converted the rebound, but was flagged off-side.

The official attendance was 13,100 to watch the first ever Football League meeting between the sides.

Teams:
Posh:
Joe Lewis, Russell Martin, Craig Morgan, Gaby Zakuani, Tommy Williams, Micah Hyde, Paul Coutts, Dominic Green, Shaun Batt, George Boyd, Craig Mackail-Smith.
Subs: Chris Westwood, Charlie Lee, Scott Rendell, James McKeown, Chris Whelpdale.

Leeds: Casper Ankergren, Frazer Richardson, Paul Telfer, Aiden White, Rui Marques, Jonathan Howson, Andy Robinson, Fanian Delph, Luciano Becchio, Jonathan Douglas, Jermaine Beckford.
Subs: Casper Ankergen, David Prutton, Neil Kilkenny, Andy Hughes, Robert Snodgrass.

Leeds' goalkeeper David Lucas had to pull out just 25 minutes before kick-off after suffering a broken finger during the pre-match warm-up.

Referee: Lee Probert.

Great result for the posh really pleased however two small points;
1. Why is the london road end so so poor at singing leeds battered us at their vocal support.
2. If it was a 14,000 sell out what happened to the other 900 fans???

Well, after I post this I'm off to get some custard to go with my humble pie.
I honestly didn't think Posh would beat Leeds and this is a very pleasent surprise.

I said on another story that thsi match would answer the question of could Posh play in the Championship with this team - if they play like they did today - YES.

Now then, where can I get custard from at this time of night?

Dan..don't put custard on it, the way Posh played today you deserve cream...they were fantastic..and could you spoonfeed your very cold left over humble pie to Borian..He deserves a far bigger share than your good self.

Fantastic result. Top ten position. And with the Batt-man taking a key role, it's proving the squad does have strength in depth. It's gelling together, get Mclean back, and promotion push could be a very real possibility. Get back on Tuesday for Johnstone's Paint, and let's help get the boys to Wembley!

What a brilliant bloke Swanny is being able to PUBLISH this article the Friday before the match.

Brilliant, edge of seat, game. Lewis looked more solid for 90% of the game than I have seen him all season but has to sort out his positioning and talking still. Batt was great for a lot of the game but wandered off into his own little world too often for someone of his calibre. Green played well for the most part but seemed lacking confidence. Hyde and Coutts are the only valid starting options. Martin recovered from a well dodgy start and some odd passing decisions to have a solid game. Tommy smith was brilliant when he didn't try to be too clever. Morgan was solid. Gaby, CMS and Boyd were brilliant.

Well done to the Leeds fans who outsang London Road and supported and encouraged their team even though they went 2 down
