The champagne was placed on ice as Posh slipped to defeat against bang in form Stockport.

Needing a win to clinch automatic promotion, Posh played plenty of decent football but rarely threatened a goal against a packed defence.
Jason Taylor missed a sitter for the visitors soon after the re-start, but teenager Tommy Rowe found the corner of the net from just inside the penalty area on 52 minutes to deliver the three points for Stockport.
Chris Whelpdale and Charlie Lee did strike the top of the crossbar with headers, but Posh ran out of ideas well before the end.
The defeat meant Posh failed to break the club record of 17 successive unbeaten Football League.

One word describes it, disgraceful!!, we were beaten by a better organised, better drilled, more hungry and harder working side today, they fully deserved their three points.

There was little movement off the ball, poor marking and we gave up possesion far too easily. Our defending was woeful and we didnt look like we wanted it!!

We are now limping over the line, such a shame in my opinion for this side to let themselves down!

:o(

Considering Mclean is one of top scorers in the country, he was pretty anonymous on Saturday. We never looked like dominating the game and definitely lacked imagination and creativity.

Men against boys. They were better organised and looked more likely to win from the very start. Abandoning the left wing for most of the game and allowing Boyd to get swamped in the congested midfield didn't really help either. Why Gnakpa wasn't on the bench is a major puzzle as well.

As regards Fegie's "the squad we have is good enough to challenge for league 1" comment. Sorry mate but no it isn't. We need
A viable 2nd Goalkeeper
A BIG midfielder
A replacement playmaker for Hyde who is not likely to manage another season
Another forward - (4 is not enough especially when one is still a rookie, albeit a rookie with very good potential)

Agree with the statement regarding Boyd, we had scope to play with some great width, but didnt and with Boyd working inside left, it left Day exposed when defending!

Gnapka was still suspended wasnt he?

Defo need a playmaker for the new season, I am not happy with limping over the line, but hey, its not panic stations!!

Lads what are you talking about, facts and figures do not lie, Posh were unbeaten in 17 games, Yes Stockport looked organised but on another day Posh would have won the game. They took their chance (only real chance and only shot on goal)and we hit the crossbar on 2 occaisions, everytime Mclean shot or we shot it was blocked (any other day it would have been a different result). As for brining players I think not, just Micah Hyde needs replacing as he lacks fire power to shoot in front of goal. Lads stick with the posh and watch us go up, and then next year when teams come here to play football watch Posh storm the league.

Sonnyjim, are you a professional manager, Fergie is aware of what needs doing, 2nd keeper is Tyler, Big midfielder, Charlie Lee (he maybe small, but he jumps and powers his way thru people)Micah Hyde - I agree.

Regards
