Posh are promoted to the Championship.
Chairman Darragh MacAnthony and manager Darren Ferguson led the celebrations on the pitch as Posh beat Colchester while sole rivals MK Dons were losing at home to Walsall.

Charlie Lee's stunning 40th minute strike sealed a win which should have been gained by a far bigger margin.

Posh were superb on the day as Colchester relied on 'keeper Dean Gerken to keep them in the match.

He made superb stops from Craig Mackail-Smith (twice), Chris Whelpdale and Aaron Mclean.

Chenza,

I think Colchester only allowing 1800 tickets is disgraceful,as Mk & leicester were given an allocation of 4000 but hopefully the traveling fans will count as the 12th man,and sing us to victory.
Come On Posh, possibly the biggest game of the season against Colchester,we need the 3 points & MK lose,we are there.Going UP UP UP !!!!!

Well done Posh from a Gillingham supporter. Great acheivement. Plus, if we go up, it saves me the embarrassment of you taking 6 points off us next season!
