3.25pm: POSH have parted company with manager Keith Alexander with immediate effect.
The club have issued a statement today and will be making no further comment.

Alexander's reign in the Posh hotseat lasted just seven months, and after a positive start to the season things quickly went down hill.

Posh started the season on fire, going through August unbeaten in all competitions, which included a famous Carling Cup win over Championship side Ipswich Town.

But since the beginning of December, Posh have failed to record a single win and have lost six straight League Two matches, a club record , despite spending £800,000 on new players .

This weekend's defeat at Darlington means Posh have dropped out of the play-off places, and down to 10th place.

The bombshell comes little more than 24 hours before Posh's FA Cup third round replay at Plymouth.
