WYCOMBE have rejected the chance to sign Posh players as part of the Russell Martin transfer to London Road.
The clubs are currently negotiating a fee for 22 year-old right back Martin who is due to sign a three-year contract at Posh when he returns from a family holiday later this month.

Wycombe are understood to want a six figure sum for a player who was virtually ever-present in League Two last season. Failure to agree a fee would lead to a tribunal making that decision.

Posh director of football Barry Fry today confirmed that the pick of the seven transfer listed players were offered to new Wycombe boss Peter Taylor, but he has declared no interest in any of them.

Fry said: "I know Peter is a big fan of Adam Newton and Mark Tyler from when he worked here, but he has told me he won't be taking any of our players.

"I did suggest that any deal could be done as part of Russell's transfer, but we now have to get back to negotiating a fee for him. If we end up at a tribunal then so be it.

"I will be with the Wycombe people at a chairman's conference next weekend so hopefully we can get something sorted out then."

Josh Low, Shwan Jalal, Adam Smith, Danny Blanchett and Danny Crow are also on the transfer list. Fry admitted that they might be prepared to give Low a free transfer in an attempt to get him off the wage bill.

Newton has been the subject of interest from Blue Square Premier League sides Oxford, Torquay and Rushden, but the player has indicated that he wants to stay in the Football League.

Newton has a year on his Posh contract remaining. A potential move to League Two side Brentford stalled after Posh declined to offer him a settlement on his current contract.

Goalkeeper Jalal was reportedly on his way to Torquay, but The Gulls have distanced themselves from the transfer.

Fry claimed earlier this week that terms have been agreed and that the move will be completed when the player and Torquay boss Paul Buckle return from holiday.

Posh are hoping to recoup the estimated £50,000 they paid Woking for Jalal 18 months ago. Torquay cannot afford and will not pay that kind of fee.

Buckle did try to borrow Jalal from Posh midway through last season, but the player joined League Two Morecambe on loan instead.

YAWN! When are we gonna see players actually joining Posh instead of the usual ramblings I read everyday in the ET? I mean the only signing of Martin really doesn't inspire me considering all I keep hearing is how we are gonna go for promotion again next season. That will not be happening with the squad we currently have and without any serious biggish name signings. Also at this time most of the other League 1 clubs appear to be leaving us standing with regards to who they have signed and who they look to be signing. No one from the Club has even suggested any names yet which leads me to believe we are struggling to attract players of any quality. We are meant to be ambitious but pawning players for transfer really does suggest otherwise.

Who started the rumor? Was it Fry again? If it was It is about time the club gagged this bafoon. It is disrespectfull to both Wycombe and the players involved.
This is the saem guy who said Charlie Lee was ready to sign a four year deal, but nothing heard since.
I would ask the club that they keep Fry quiet as he is becoming an embarresment. There are still numerous fans well in the hundreds who stay away because of Fry, I wish he packed his bags and leaves before Darragh becomes wise to him

Anyone who's still staying away because of Fry needs their head examining!

That's as maybe Mal but there are still plenty who feel that way and storys like this only underline their feelings, if they can still be bothered to read them. Fry has been given the task of getting these players out of the club and so far all he's been capable of is rumour-mongering which has shown him up to be rather economical with the truth yet again. If his lack of progress in performing his task is holding up the signing of new players, then surely Darragh has to start realising that he is placing his faith in a man who is looking less and less capable of going forward with the club if it really is as ambitious as we are told. Perhaps we might hear about some new signings when Fergie returns?

Its no coincidence that our best players come from an area where Barry Fry knows like the back of his hand, Mclean from grays, CMS from Dagenham boyd from Stevenage. Barry is a good business man whether we like it or not. I can still see a role for him at the club, maybe not issuing press releases, but in the transfer markert. Its not as if Bary can sign players without Fergie being around. Allow things to settle and things will begin to happen. Posh fans can be so inpatient!

Steve-cat, Posh are ambitious and currently have a squad thats capable of getting a mid table finish in the Championship. Look at Leicester Look at Leeds, shall I go on, they sign these big names on big wages get relagated and still pay high wage bills, GREAT BUSINESS. People should stop moaning and come out and support the Posh. I have every confidence in Macca and Fergie, they are producing a squad that wants to play for each other and Posh.

Oh aye Poshie, such a good business man that he pawned off the ground and then run up a near £2 million debt from a clean slate. I'd call him extremely lucky and the only good thing about him is that he has eventually been lucky for Posh as well as himself after many years of misjudgment which he personally doidn't do badly out of.
