LIVERPOOL will be fielding a cast of unknowns at London Road tomorrow (July 19).
But most of the squad played a big part in Liverpool capturing the Premier League Reserves title last season, including the latest batch of foreign imports.

Centre-back Daniel Ayala chose Liverpool ahead of Real Madrid when deciding to end his sta
y at Sevilla at the age of 17, while fellow defender Mikel San Jose moved to Anfield from another La Liga team, Athletic Bilbao

Miki Roque could make it three Spaniards in the back four following his recent move from Lleida.

Centre-half Ronald Huth is the first Paraguayan player to sign for Liverpool and attacking midfielder Vincent Weijl has made his way into this country from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

There is no place for Moulton-born centre-back Jack Hobbs. He's also not in the first-team squad who have a fixture against Polish side Wisla Krakow.

Liverpool squad

  • Goalkeepers: Peter Gulacsi, Martin Hansen, Dean Bouzanis.

  • Defenders: Martin Kelly, Ronald Huth, Mikel San Jose, Daniel Ayala, Stephen Irwin, Miki Roque.

  • Midfielders: Adam Hammill, Ryan Flynn, Ray Putterill, Gerardo Bruna, Ryan Crowther, Fransisco Duran, Gary Mackay, Steven

  • Vincent Weijl, Zsolt Poloskie

EXACTLY. £20 to watch the youth team. NO WONDER THEY CANT SELL ANY TICKETS!!!! 1st team was always going to be away and they have had to take most of the reserves to cover the first team players only just back after EURO 2008 duty...

WAKE UP POSH (FRY) & stop charging £20 to watch POSH play kids!!!!

But some people do go to watch Posh not (Some kids). If these kids all played for Posh they'd probably be good enough to get us promoted this year and everyone would be paying £20 to watch them!!

Yeah I agree but Posh marketed this as if the big names would be turning up and none will be. 10 quid would be a fair price not 20.

Disappointing. I think It would have made more commercial sense to have come up with a pre season 'package' for all the games. Then it would have encouraged people to go and see Posh warm up against all kinds of opposition, not just Man Utd. Ive not heard what strength they will bring, but as its Ole Gunner Solskear's testimonial on Sat 2nd Aug, I don't think that all that many 1st teamers will be in the starting XI. I think maybe Darragh needs to get the commercial department up to speed to match his own aspirations for Posh in the long run, as present they are a little way behind.

In two week's time all this will be behind us and the long, hard season ahead of us. Stop belly aching and get ready for the big push. Not quite sure what to say! How about 'Up The Posh'? Ha ha.
