Posh want to sign off with style

THE Posh players will thank their wonderful supporters by putting on a fantastic footballing show in the final game of the League Two season against Darlington at London Road on Saturday.
That's the wish of manager Darren Ferguson who is determined to end a promotion season with a final flourish in front of an expected crowd of around the 12,000 mark.
It's certain to be the biggest League Two crowd seen at London Road this season and further proof of the outstanding backing the players have received from their fans.
Ferguson said: "I really want us to put on a good show. The fans have been brilliant with us all season and I want us to treat them to a great performance.
"We were very good at Grimsby last weekend. We were very relaxed and it showed in the football we produced so a repeat of that would do very nicely.
"Darlington have nothing to play for, but they have a very experienced manager and he won't want to go into the play-offs on the back of a big defeat so they won't make it easy.
"But we will field as strong a side as possible and the orders from me will be to win and to entertain."
Only left-back Jamie Day of the regular starting line-up is in danger of missing the match. He is having a fitness test on an injured groin today.
But right-back Claude Gnakpa will only be involved if he agrees to sign the fresh contract offered by Posh. Gnakpa is out of contract at the end of the season and chairman Darragh MacAnthony appears resigned to his departure.
Gnakpa has demanded a slary which would put him in the club's top three earners, but MacAnthony said: "The club's policy on unhappy players is that we don't want them
"He was offered a great new contract this year and has messed us around ever since. Myself and the gaffer want to sign up our best players on long term contracts and at the same time look after them as a reward for the job they have done so far.
"However I will not be dictated to by any player or his agent and refuse to have players using bids from rival clubs thrown at me as a way to get more money for themselves.
"I also personally feel that a player who is either injured or suspended for over 35 per cent of the time he has been with us should not be setting unreasonable dem-ands either, but when he leaves, best of luck to him."
Posh goalkeeper Joe Lewis has been included in the England Under 21 squad to play Wales in a friendly at Wrexham on Thursday, May 15.
POSH fans are reminded that they must purchase tickets for the Darlington match by 5pm tomorrow.
No tickets will be sold on the day of the game.
