WEEKS after signing a new kit deal with Adidas, Posh have unveiled a new club crest which will feature on the shirts.
Commercial manager Leigh Porter said: "One of the key aspects of the new replica shirt design is the club crest and in conjunction with Adidas, the three supporters' groups and Peterborough City Council we have been working on a new design that will give fans what they have been asking for and compliment the new replica kits.

'The design brief was to keep a strong link with the city's crest but create something that recognises the new vision we have at the club which has been created by our chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

"We felt it was important to incorporate the name of our club, recognise the date of which the club was founded and include a cleaner version of the current crest but still including the shield, crossed keys, the lions and 'upon this rock' motto.

What do you think of the new crest? Is it an improvement on the old one? Is it necessary as the club moves forward? Let us know by commenting below or email alan.swann@peterboroughtoday.co.uk

I think it's a shame to ditch the old version.
It may be easier to reproduce on shirts, but the new version doesn't look as regal or important.
I liked the detail on the old crest and the history associated with it.

Have we seen the new kit yet ? I haven't but have been away for a bit - The new badge surely can only be on a non-blue panel ??? - I fear the worst, we wear blue shirts not blue with excessive white. Trim - adidas three stripes etc is cool, but not a big white panel on the front.

The new crest looks cheap and tacky.

It's probably down to cost as the new crest will surely be cheaper to reproduce on the shirts.

Even though it may be cheaper to reproduce the crest, as we'll have adidas emblazoned on the kit as well, I suspect the cost of the kit will not be on the cheap side!

I hope there are certain incentives for Posh fans when the new kit goes on sale seeing as this is yet another change of kit. Is this the 3rd new (home) kit in 2 seasons? That's not counting the 2 different away kits Posh have either!

I think the crest is suitable if lacking in colour contrast, especially on a blue shirt. I think they have tried to simplify the old one but lost some beauty.
What does the motto mean to the club? It actually is a quote from Jesus where he said that he would build his church upon himself as the rock. As a Christian I am very pleased that the club take these words but I am not sure whether they see them the way I do!

Should keep the old one, it looks much better. The new one looks cheap.
