BREAKING NEWS 2.30PM: The route for Sunday's Posh celebratory open-top bus parade has been announced - and there will be a significant police presence.
The city council, football club and police are urging supporters to watch from vantage points in Long Causeway, Cathedral Square and outside the town hall in Bridge Street.

These will be the safest points for crowds to gather and fans are being asked not to approach the bus as it passes through. Police officers and stewards will man barriers at these locations.

The tour will begin at 11am. It will progress along Broadway, Long Causeway, into Cathedral Square and along Cowgate where the bus will be given a police escort to the town hall.

The players will meet the mayor and make a short appearance on the steps of the Town hall.

Chief Inspector Nick Knight, who will be in charge of the police operation, said: "We, the city council and Peterborough United are keen that this is the fun and safe celebration of the club's promotion to division one.

"We would encourage fans to gather in the pedestrianised areas of the city centre in Long Causeway and Cathedral Square to get the best view from the safest vantage points."

More in Tuesday's Evening Telegraph.

It would make more sense to wait until Posh get into the Premiership. It will be along wait and hell might freeze over but this early parade only devalues everything.

Still think it's out of order when our real 'heros' are still not allowed to wear their uniforms in the city let alone have a parade. Unbelievable priorities!
