Posh get new captain on the pitch
MICAH Hyde is set to be a part-time Posh player this season.
The experienced midfielder has retained the club captaincy at London Road, but he will not skipper the side on the field. That honour will now go to centre-back Craig Morgan.
Posh manager Darren Ferguson explained: "I am confident I will get quality from Micah again this season, but to ensure that I will have to use him more sparingly.
"He would struggle when we're playing three times a week for instance so I want a captain who is likely to play every game.
"Craig fits the bill as he developed as a player and a leader last season. I just feel that Craig needs the responsibility at this stage of his career.
"Micah understands the decision and he's fine with it."
Hyde (33), who joined the club from Burnley, is in the final year of his Posh contract.
He is expected to help out with coaching the Posh youth team as he prepares to take his coaching badges.
WHAT do you think - is Morgan a good choice for captain? Is Fergie right to take the armband off Micah Hyde if he isn't going to be such a regular starter next season? Comment below.
