POSH have a £3 million squad following the arrival of midfielder Lee Frecklington from Lincoln City.
Freckington will formally move to London Road tomorrow on a three-month loan with a view to signing permanently. Sources close to Sincil Bank claim that a transfer fee of £200,000 has been agreed.

That would bring the total outlay on the squad in terms of transfers to £2.3million. Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony claims that figure is closer to £3 million when other contract details are included.

MacAnthony said: "The figure is more like £3 million when you consider add ons and relocation fees etc, but it has been money well spent over two seasons.

"There will be no more arrivals until the summer now as the gaffer is happy with the squad. We will speak about this in more detail nearer the end of the season as we make plans for the Championship."

Goalkeeper Joe Lewis cost a club record £400,000 when arriving from Norwich just over 12 months ago and central defender Gaby Zakuani was only slightly less expensive when making his transfer from Fulham permanent last month.

Sixteen members of the current squad cost money, although Liam Hatch, Scott Rendell, Rene Howe and Kieran Charnock are currently out on loan.

Frecklington could make his Posh debut at Brighton tomorrow if the League One fixture survives the wintry weather. Heavy rain was forecast in Brighton today, making waterlogging rather than frost the biggest problem.

Posh twice had bids to sign Frecklington turned down last season. The player was reported to have dismissed a transfer to Posh as 'a sideways move', but he denies ever making that comment.

Frecklington said: "Everyone knows that this is moving in the right direction and any player would want to be part of what they are trying to do here.

"I am ambitious and it's a good move for me. I had 11 years at Lincoln and they have been great for me, but now is the time to move.

Posh manager Darren Ferguson added: "We tried to get Lee last season, but the price was too high. It's come down now and the chairman has backed me again."

Posh will be without centre-back Craig Morgan tomorrow as he recovers from a toe injury. Manchester United loanee James Chester is expected to make his debut alongside Gaby Zakuani at the heart of the Posh defence.

No way is he worth £200k. A good League 2 player who has not been doing much this season.

Very over priced when you see what was paid for CMS etc!

Posh are a small club.... Mate, give the lad a chance, he hasn't even kicked a ball in a Posh shirt yet. What is it with the negative comments everytime something is written about Posh. If you haven't got anything good to say, don't bother, we are not interested!

Boro_peterborough - this is called a forum to express opinions. I have mine and you have yours and I am free to say what I want.

If you don't like others opinions then go elsewhere or do not comment as I have the right to an opinion as you do and will have my say if you like it or not.

He is overpriced and almost every Posh fan said last year when we were linked with him that they felt he was not that good and would be not worth it.

Look at what we paid for others such as CMS etc and tell me he is worth more than that?

Pretty impressive for a first division club. Furthermore, five of those listed would fetch a million plus now. Thats good business in anybodys book. The club will grow bigger and be more successful if its players continue to increase in value.

He didn't win many fans in Peterborough when last the club tried to get him, but I'm glad they are reinforcing the midfield. I hope the supporters give him a chance because he may be able to help. It would be nice if everyone were pulling in the saem direction.

Why boast about a £3.000.000 squad when, players like Howe, Charnock, Hatch, Rendell, will never be good enough! that amounts to £400,000 of deadwood, this money could have been better spent on paying off Fry, worth every penny!
