It's up and not away for Aaron Mclean

STAR striker Aaron Mclean has come off the transfer list because he realises he can reach the Championship with Posh.
That's the view of Posh manager Darren Ferguson who is naturally thrilled that a player who contributed 33 goals to the club's promotion from League Two last season has decided to stay at London Road.
Mclean handed in a transfer request earlier this summer after Posh rejected two bids in excess of £1 million from Wolves. Posh insisted they would require a £3 million bid plus add-ons before agreeing to sell one of their prize assets.
Ferguson said: "Basically by putting that price tag on Aaron we were telling clubs that he wasn't for sale. I have always been quite relaxed about the situation because I didn't believe anyone would pay that price for him.
"Fair play to the chairman for refusing to sell him on the cheap as well. It's another statement of intent from him.
"And to be fair to Aaron he has been as good as gold since the transfer request went in. I felt he had made the wrong decision, but it was his decision to make and he has trained hard and shown an excellent attitude in training since then.
"I believe he has now realised that he can make the Championship with us and that is great news for the team and the fans."
Mclean completed a permanent move to Posh from Blue Square Premier League side Grays Athletic 18 months ago for a fee of £150,000.
Wolves officially ended their interest earlier this week.
A suggestion that Mclean handed in a transfer request because he felt the club had broken promises by refusing to allow him to speak with Wolves prompted an angry reaction from chairman Darragh MacAnthony who revealed that he'd offered Mclean a new contract which would have made him the highest paid player in the club's history.
He also revealed that Mclean had made numerous other contract demands including a guarantee that he would always be the highest paid player at the club and a payment for image rights.
Mclean is expected to start tomorrow's friendly against a Liverpool XI at London Road. Fans can pay at the gate.
