Hyde seeks to stay forever

INSPIRATIONAL Posh skipper Micah Hyde would love to finish his illustrious career at London Road.
Hyde's football brain and huge experience has guided the young and exciting Posh team to promotion from League Two in his first full season at the club.
The midfield general will be 34 when his current Posh contract expires at the end of next season, but he reckons he can go on playing for a couple of years after that.
Hyde, who will skipper Posh in their final match of the season at home to Darlington tomorrow (3pm), said: "It's been a great season for us all, but we are a good side, led by an astute young manager, who will only get better.
"I have a contract to the end of next season, but I reckon I could play on for a couple of seasons after that and I'd love that to be at Posh."
Posh will field a strong side tomorrow for an afternoon billed as a promotion party. The club are hopeful of attracting a crowd in the region of 12,000, a fact that excites manager Darren Ferguson.
Ferguson said: "We've had some fantastic crowds at home already this season and this looks like being the biggest of the lot. It should be a fantastic occasion and I'm sure the players will rise to it.
"We have had a great season and we are all looking forward to next season in League One when crowds like this will be normal, but for now our focus is on putting on a show and winning well tomorrow.
"I have no idea what sort of side Darlington will put out, but I know their manager well enough to know that they will not let us run all over them.
"But we are fresh, relaxed and confident of finishing with a big performance."
Ferguson revealed that negotiations over a new contract for right-back Claude Gnakpa are 'no further forward' after a meeting between the pair yesterday.
Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony will address the crowd at half-time tomorrow to ensure no fans come onto the playing surface after the final whistle.
Posh have been warned by the FA that a repeat of the pitch invasion at the end of last season will result in serious censure. The players, management and their families will complete a lap of honour at the end of tomorrow's match.
Posh fans have until kick-off tomorrow to take advantage of the double discount on season tickets for the 2008-09 campaign. The London Road Box Office will be open from 9am.
