IN a season stacked with stunning action, The Evening Telegraph's Posh writer Alan Swann, picks his top 10 highlights of the campaign.
1) Posh 3, Rotherham 1

This match proved that Posh had the fighting spirit to complement their undoubted skill. Posh suffered three injuries in the first half and spent the second 45 minutes with left-back Tommy Williams at centre-back against the team in second place in League Two – fortunately he was accompanied by Chris Westwood who confirmed that he would have a huge part to play in the promotion push.

2) The form of George Boyd

Boyd (right) is likely to be beaten by Aaron Mclean to the player of the season awards, but no player has given me as much viewing pleasure since the days of Freddie Hill and Bobby Doyle. He has more tricks than the Magic Circle, but there is also an end product as 15 goals from the wing confirms.

3) Away supporters

Some of the support at away games has made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention. It was a pain sitting in the press box at Grimsby last Saturday rather than standing behind the goal where a fabulous party was taking place and the atmosphere generated by Posh fans at Brentford, Barnet and Notts County to name but a few was equally breathtaking.

4) Hereford 0, Posh 1

After three seasons of slogging around in this dismal division, Posh finally escaped thanks to Dean Keates' flying header midway through the first half. The final whistle sparked magnificent celebrations among players, management and travelling supporters.

5) Joe Lewis penalty save

Posh were cruising to a 2-0 win at promotion rivals Chesterfield when they conceded a goal three minutes from time and then gave away a penalty deep into injury time. It's very probable that an equaliser would have damaged morale, but Lewis produced a brilliant spot-kick save, all the more praiseworthy as three days earlier he had been in hospital suffering from concussion.

6) Aaron Mclean's scoring record

Mclean netted in the final minute of the game at Accrington Stanley to make it seven scoring games in a row. It was the first of many highlights for a top player and a top bloke and confirmed that he'd recovered from the season-ending injury of the previous campaign.

7) Craig Morgan & Chris Westwood

The club's scoring feats have understandably stolen most of the headlines this season, but the club-equalling record of 17 games unbeaten was built on a rock solid defence. Posh have lost just twice this season when Morgan and Westwood have been paired at the heart of the defence – they kept seven clean sheets in a row at the start of the run.

8) Posh 7, Brentford 0

Brentford were useless, tactically naive and lost their goalkeeper to a first-minute red card, but Posh were still brilliantly ruthless. Mclean grabbed a hat-trick and missed a penalty.

9) Darragh buys Posh

After much haggling and clever use of his legal team, Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony gave the club and the city a huge boost by finally revealing he'd officially taken control at London Road.
