MANAGER Darren Ferguson will reveal his first-choice Posh line-up at the start of tomorrow's London Road friendly against a Liverpool XI (3pm).
Ferguson will not employ the traditional method of fielding two separate teams for 45 minutes apiece. Instead he wants to give his preferred players as much chance as possible to gel.

The only exception is the likely absence of left-back Jamie Day who is having a minor operation on Sunday but is expected to return to training next week. Tommy Williams is expected to deputise.

Ferguson said: "I won't be giving players a run-out for the sake of it, I want to start with the players I believe will play the most this season.

"Obviously the depth of our squad will be crucial if we are to have success, but I do have a starting XI in mind. We have five first-team friendlies before we start the League One season and they are an important part of our build-up.

"Liverpool might not have any big names here tomorrow, but they will give us a good test like they did last season."

Selection posers for Ferguson tomorrow include the right-wing slot with new signing Sergio Torres challenging Chris Whelpdale for that role.

Charlie Lee is expected to start in central midfield as Ferguson has already declared that he will use veteran club captain Micah Hyde more sparingly this season.

None of the transfer listed players will take part, but triallist Paul Coutts from Highland League side Cove Rangers will be involved at some stage.
