AN historic Posh win was acclaimed as his best day in management by Darren Ferguson, but he insisted all the praise should be showered on his players.
Posh beat Leeds 2-0 in the first ever Football League meeting between the sides in front of a sell-out crowd at London Road.

George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith scored the goals at the beginning and end of the second half, but Ferguson believed collective brilliance won the day.

Ferguson said: "The lads were all magnificent. I couldn't be happier and it's easily my best day as a manager.

"To beat a side as good as Leeds is a wonderful achievement and it just shows how far we have travelled as a team."

"There's no doubt we deserved to win and the lads carried out the game-plan to perfection.

"We knew they were going to enjoy good spells of possession, but we kept our shape and our discipline, while always staying dangerous on the break.

"Obviously scoring so soon after the start of the second half was a boost, but we had chances in the first half as well.

"I expected them to come at us, but I was honestly never worried. We restricted them to long shots in the main, although Charlie Lee had to make a good tackle towards the end.

"I wasn't surprised we scored a second goal either. We played some great stuff on the break in the second half and I have to give credit to Shaun Batt in particular.

"I had a bit of a go at him and Dominic Green at half-time as they hadn't give us much and Shaun answered me back in the best possible way.

"For the first 15 minutes of the second half we were superb."

Posh have now recorded successive wins for the first time this season, but Ferguson will now work on keeping his players' feet firmly on the ground.

Ferguson added: "It's been a great couple of weeks for us. That was a massive win at MK Dons the previous week and this was a tremendous follow-up.

"But it's just six points, it's no good beating Leeds and then not getting something at Walsall next Saturday.

"I said to the players before the game that this could turn into the catalyst for the season and hopefully that will be the case."

Posh moved briefly into seventh place in the League One table, but finished the day in ninth place, two points off a play-off place.

PB ae you determined to hack every posh supporter off with everything you write, think you're being controversial?? The boy Batt has played a handful of games after a massive step up in class and in the defenders he faces week in, week out. Fair enough, for someone who is seven feet tall he does have a transparent head when it comes to ariel ability - but give him a break, he and several others at the club will go on to great things - we just want to hold on to them for as long as we can! So there!!

Well done to the lads. That's the sort of result that can really kickstart the whole season for them. I have personally been banging on about not keeping clean sheets, and I'm ecstatic they did against Leeds. We know Posh can score goals against anybody. But the road to back-to-back promotions is paved with clean sheets. Three cheers for Mighty Posh! (Now let's keep 2 clean sheets in a row!)

Not at all, playing a few games only does not give an excuse for not striking a ball well? Does it?!?!

Enjoy our result by all means but lets stop comparing Boyd to Beckham and us to a club like Leeds, there is no comparison!!
