Mclean rocked the club yesterday by handing in a written transfer request just two days after declaring he was happy to stay at London Road following the rejection of two £1 million bids from Championship side Wolves.
Mclean's agent James Barrett claimed today that 'broken promises' were behind the striker's decision to seek a move. He scored 33 goals as Posh surged to promotion from League Two last season and interest from Wolves led Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony to make Mclean the most lucrative contract offer in the club's history.

"But I am pretty relaxed about the whole thing. At least we have closure and we know where everyone stands. We made Aaron a great offer, but he's decided he wants to leave instead.
"But until we receive an offer which matches our valuation he remains our player and he remains in my plans. We need to move on from all the speculation now and concentrate on getting ready for the new season – I will not be seeking another striker at this time."

In a terse statement on the club's website, MacAnthony said: "I offered Aaron the most lucrative contract in the history of Peterborough United and Aaron has responded by putting in a transfer request.
"We have therefore reluctantly placed Aaron on the transfer list and any interested parties will have to pay the club £3 million up front plus various add-ons and a sell-on clause for the transfer of his registration.
"As far as I am concerned, if we do not get the asking price then Aaron will work out the remainder of his Peterborough United contract until 2011."
Mclean's agent Barrett said today: "Aaron was told that the club would not stand in his way if a bigger club came in for him."
MacAnthony has stated publicly in the past that he would not stand in any player's way should a Premier League club come calling.
Mclean declined to comment today.
