Danny NY Crow felt his days were numbered at London Road from the moment Darren Ferguson was appointed Posh boss.
The 22 year-old striker saw his Posh contract cancelled by mutual consent yesterday. He has accepted a pay-off even though he has yet to find another club.

Crow scored 17 goals in his first season at London Road after joining on a free transfer from Norwich City in the summer of 2005, but he started just four League matches following the arrival of Ferguson in January 2007.

But Crow insists he still leaves Posh with a heavy heart. He said: "I'm very disappointed to be leaving under these circumstances, but it's probably best for all concerned that I go now.

"The new management clearly didn't fancy me from the start and as a result my career has slowed down in the last 18 months.

"That's football though. A couple of years ago Posh wanted money for me and now they've paid me off.

"I wish the club all the best though. I still have many friends at the club and the fans have largely stuck by me.

"I'll always be grateful for that especially after the 'Big Ron' TV programme which showed me in a false light.

"I was glad the club won promotion last season, but I just wish I had played a part in it. I hope they go on to have another successful season in League One.

"I haven't fixed myself up with a club yet, but there are one or two Conference clubs after me. I would rather stay in the Football League, but I might not have the choice."

Blue Square Premier League clubs Cambridge and Kettering are known to be interested in Crow. Crow insists he didn't turn Rotherham down as previously reported as the League Two club failed to come back with an offer after coming out of administration.

Ferguson said: "It wasn't a question of Danny's face not fitting. The form of our other strikers has been exceptional since I've been here and Danny understood and accepted that."

Too fat and too slow. Good riddance. Darren Ferguson didn't fancy you but neither did anyone else or you'd have a club. After watching you play (very lazy) i'd say the 'Big Ron' programme showed you exactly as you are. Jog on Danny!

Best natural finisher at the Club for years. Sorry it has not worked out but this has to be a wise decision at this time for both sides. Thanks Danny and the very best of of luck Danny for your future.

Totally agree Brian, I cannot understand why players are being treated by Ferguson this way when its obvious he cannot attract anyone of any note. He could still be a very good player if he was given a chance by the plonker in charge. Who can forget his 1st season and who can forget his exploits at Tranmere, I for one would have Danny Crow in place of the mis-firing muppets we have up front at the moment.

Best Wishes for the future Danny, hope you find a club soon.

He was one of my son's favourite players at the time and was always really pleasant and had his picture taken with him etc (as do most of the Posh players to be fair!)

Just one more forward who spent the major part of his Posh career out on loan. Like Renee & co, I didn't see him enough to make a fair judgement on his ability.

although i wish danny well for the future, but fergie made it clear a while ago he no longer figured in his plans ? he had several oppertunities from other clubs but never took them so he slowed his own career by not furthering his career its not fergies fault. darren is building a team comprising of pace & flair & im sorry but danny doesnt fit in with the style of football the current posh side play its as simple as that ? there can be little sentiment if you want to achieve success & we are slowly bringing in better players & so players have to go as fresh blood comes in,its nothing personal its progression ... tricky dicky w/sey

Crow has not been in the managers plans for 18 months or so, should have been allowed to go before now, i blame Fry as director of football, isn't his job to clear the deadwood. Didn't we turn down £95,000 last summer when Crow was transfer-listed? Notts County took him on loan twice last year what are the chances if we'd given him a free then he'd have been taken be off our hands? Wonder how much we have paid in wages and paying-up his contract in the time he's been out of favour, seeing his career rot away in the reserves, when we could have been rid a year ago to the benefit of everyone. This club is being run so well in so many ways but in others areas we are still a complete shambles.
