Reinforcements are on the way to help Posh climb away from the foot of The Championship.
Manager Mark Cooper is keen to recruit 'one or two' new players before Thursday's deadline for loan transfers.

Cooper would not give any clues as to the positions he's looking to strengthen, but players with Championship experience are on the radar.

Some current members of the Posh squad could also be on the way out.

Cooper said: "Barry Fry is working on signing one or two players in before the deadline and I'm confident he will be successful.

"I want players in who can help the current squad and we have plenty of useful names in the pot. Some have played at our level before.

"There may be players leaving as well. Barry is working hard on that."

A physical striker to complement the pace and trickery of Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith could be a priority for a manager who sent tall central defender Ryan Bennett forward in the final minutes of Saturday's unfortunate 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

------------

That was Cooper's first match in charge and he was pleased with the positive reaction to his side's performance. He was also awestruck by the support from over 1,600 Posh fans at Bramall Lane.

Cooper added: "Many people I know within the game saw the match and were surprised that a team in our position could play so well.

"Apparently it was the best display for a while. We looked tight at the back and yet still played some good football.

"Obviously I don't want to turn things round totally and shore up defensively at the expense of creating chances and I don't think that happened on Saturday.

"I would not criticise one of the players for their efforts. They worked tremendously hard for the club and on another day would have picked up a much better result.

"They were quiet after the game and maybe expecting a rollocking, but I had nothing but praise for them.

"The fans responded to them as well. The support was fantastic and was much appreciated by me and the players.

"I was so focused on the match I wasn't aware of any particular support for me, but I'm not interested in that.

"It's all about the players and the club and if the fans keep that level of backing up then no-one can have any complaints."

Posh are now preparing for the visit of Gordon Strachan's Middlesbrough to London Road on Saturday. Captain George Boyd and Bennett both start that match just one caution shy of a suspension.

Is there a limit to the total loan signings we can have a season? I have an inkling its 8, but if and when loans turn permananent those loans get chaulked off??? we have had 6 loans in so far so presumably we can only sign 2 players before the January window. Am I wrong or right?

It looks to me like Mark Cooper knows what he wants, he is a tactician, smart and, has a canny knowledge of the game.

At Championship level, M/S appears to freeze in front of goal, that is not affordable under any circumstances.

#4 Yes mate he must have.

Bloody Hell Cooper is talking sense. Bringing in players with Championship experience, wonder why Fergie didn't think of that extremely radical approach. Everybody and his dog had been saying the same thing since July this year.

Nothing wrong with your post, Biscuit Head. There's too much deletion on this site.

Perhaps those going out will be loanees thereby making room for more?

At last: "players with Championship experience". Halleluja!
Just a thought: How long can we go on saying "if only CMS would convert his chances".

Er......I am mistaken in thinking it says that Barry Fry is bringing in more players, not Mark Cooper. I presume that is the same Barry Fry that blamed Fergie for the other players brought in. The same Barry Fry that is 'Director of Football'. The same Barry Fry that handles all the transfers except when they go wrong, under those circumstances it was obviously the manager that did it.
Don't expect any 'name' players, just expect cheap. Posh will not pay the wages for quality and experience, they cannot afford to. Barry Fry needs paying.
Come on Darragh, come to your senses and get rid of the parasite. The manager should be buying and selling players not some idiot that has a track record of failure.

Pearce to go maybe but we've paid money upfront for Bennett Griffiths and Simpson I believe and are set to sign all permanently in Jan. All 3 were involved at Sheff Utd.

I'd have thought a few midfielders would go out (Keates, Freck?) and an experianced enforcer in the Halsall mould would come in.

If Rowe and Griffiths are our left back options no need for Day in squad as Lee can also play at left back, so loan him out.

Bring in a striker and Batt should go out on loan, aswell as Green - surplus to requirements.

So i'm guessing the two signings should be an experianced midfielder and a right sided forward/striker.

I heard James Henrys (right winger)loan at Millwall is ending this week and he's returns to Reading - his record this season in league 1 is 5 starts 3 sub 5 goals. If he's out of the Reading managers plans maybe worth a cheeky bid?

Why has number 3 been deleted? Was it because it mentioned facts not conjecture. Who administers this site?
