REFEREE Mike Jones – who has been demoted from the Premier League following the 'beach ball goal' incident in Sunderland's win over Liverpool at the weekend – will take charge of Posh's home clash against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Fifa's laws of the game state that the Premier League match should have been stopped when Bent's shot struck a balloon on its way past Reina in the Liverpool goal.

But referee Mike Jones let the goal stand, and Sunderland won the match by that solitary goal.

Jones will take charge of the Championship game between Peterborough United and Scunthorpe at London Road on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

I bet that the stewards get instructed to "search and destroy" all beachballs.

Anyone any good at putting footie songs to Beachboy tunes?
