He's the new Posh skipper as the club launch their assault on a second successive promotion. And he could become the most capped Posh player of all time by appearing in internationals against the European Championship runners-up and losing semi-finallists.
The Welshman has established himself at the heart of his country's defence in the last 12 months. He has won eight caps, seven of them while at London Road.
He's now third in the all-time list of international caps won while at Posh behind James Quinn and Tony Millington. He could go top during Wales' World Cup qualifying campaign which includes fixtures against European Championship runners-up Germany and losing semi-finalists Russia.

Morgan loves playing for his country, but he accepts there is a downside to heading off on international duty.
Morgan said: "I could never refuse a call-up for my country, but it's always in the back of my mind that I will struggle to get my place back in the Posh side.
"I will probably miss the odd game this season and as we have decent cover for every position in our squad I wouldn't be surprised if I struggled to get back into the side.
"I don't think being captain will make any difference. The manager is very fair and if people play well he will stick with them.
"It's an honour to be made captain and it was a total surprise when the manager pulled me aside during the trip to Marbella to tell me.
"He said I had matured as a player and was ready for the responsibility. I was naturally happy to accept and it would be great to skipper the side to another promotion - we certainly have the players to go well again.
"Captain is not that important a position in football and anyway we're lucky that we have several natural leaders in the squad like Chris Westwood and Micah Hyde so they are bound to help."
If Morgan stays fit and in form, he could become Posh's most capped player in a home match against Liechtenstein in October. If selected for all the qualifying matches, Morgan would miss the Posh fixtures against Bristol Rovers on September 6, Walsall on October 11 and Leicester City on March 28.
Morgan added: "It's not ideal leaving the club for any games, but playing in international football can't do anything but help me as a footballer.
"I played against Holland in the summer which was an education and I expect the the matches against Germany and Russia in particular will be just the same."
