CONTINUING the Diary's A to Z of Posh..... this week the letter C
C

Good

Ken CHARLERY
will forever be known as the man who shot Posh to the old Division One for the first time in their history by scoring twice on the club's first visit to Wembley.

He was such a legend he boomeranged his way back to London Road on three separate occasions without his reputation diminishing as much as his influence had.

Bad

Scott 'Calamity' COOKSEY
was an accident waiting to happen throughout most of his Posh career. Unfortunately you never had to wait too long.

He dropped more balls than an unco-ordinated juggler and was more afraid of crosses than Dracula. It was often said that Cooksey could throw himself in front of a bus and it would slip under him.

Ugly

Gary COOPER
was horrible. He was a decent player, but stupid as he decided to go AWOL in the run-up to the club's first ever Wembley appearance thus losing his place in the side.

Cooper had an unusual way of interacting with fans. He used to try and fight them, not always successfully as the best ever fanzine headline of 'The fan hit the s***' recalled.

Unusual

CAKE
will always be associated with another Posh Wembley hero, Andy Clarke.

He once failed a dope test, but received a lenient sentence after claiming the banned substance found in his system had been an ingredient of a cake he purchased... from, to no-one's surprise, Amsterdam.

Shocking

The only result in Posh history over-turned by a Football Association committee was as the result of a COIN thrown from the London Road End.

The 10p piece struck the Kingstonian goalkeeper on the head at a time when Posh were leading an FA Cup tie in 1992 3-1.

They went on to win 9-1, but only 1-0 when the match was replayed behind closed doors.
