When Benjamin Zephaniah took time out to talk to features writer Hannah Gray he treated us to a performance of one of his poems.
Mr Zephaniah is now living in South Lincolnshire, moving to escape the hectic life of London.

He left school aged 13 and despite this, his first book, Pen Rhythm, was published when he was 22.

Today, aged 49, he is the holder of numerous honoray doctorates.

Although his career includes work aimed at adults, including recordings with the Wailers, he has also produced poetry and novels for children and young people.

He appeared on the Channel 4 programme, Last Chance Kids, which aimed to inspire children from a failing school to learn to read.
