Poets' Corner: 29/11/07
They're selling me a dream again this Christmas,
They're telling me its good will to all men.
But they'll shoot and kill,
And eat there fill
While credit cards are bartered with a pen.
They're selling me a dream again this Christmas,
The tables will be filled with festive food,
And presents will be piled so high,
While killers will invade my sky
And we will all still try for Christmas mood.
They're selling me a dream again this Christmas,
The cards arrive, all falling on my floor.
But as the day appears at last,
And money drains away so fast,
Is this what you want, are you really sure?
They're selling me a dream again this Christmas,
They've promised me a day that's full of thrill,
But I don't want the hype and gloom,
Or adverts tossed across my room,
Such happiness comes with a bitter pill.
