City poet's works are inspirational

City poet Duane Poole is making waves with his new book on both sides of the Atlantic.
Duane (25), has published his first ever book, called A Walk Through Life, a collection of poems and short stories inspired by his life.
Mr Poole, who was born in Hawaii, spent most of his life growing up in Fletton – although he is now based in America – and a large part of his poetry is based on his childhood experiences while living in Peterborough.
The book is described by publishers Outskirts Press as: "A thoughtful and imaginative compilation of poetry, which will be sure to enrapture the heart, and uplift the soul."
Mr Poole agreed, and said of his book: "It is a unique book of short stories and poetry, captivating many everyday life scenarios many of us can relate to.
"The book discusses real life issues people can identify with. It also has a spiritual theme with many positive messages."
After going to school at Stanground College, and then on to Peterborough Regional College, it had been his life-time ambition to get his work published, but it took several years before he could complete his goal.
He said: "This has always been a dream of mine however it was not as easy as I thought it would be. But with perseverance I managed to find the right publisher."
His "never give up" attitude is shown in a number of the poems included in the book, including You Can Do It! which describes how, despite knock backs and problems, everyone can achieve their goals.
The book, which was only published in November 2007, has proved to be really popular with readers, and the success of his first work has led him to start planning his second literary work.
Mr Poole said: "I have had nothing but positive responses to my book, and it is selling quite well.
"I am currently in the States and working on a follow-up to A Walk Through Life, which will hopefully be published some time in the near future."
Mr Poole moved to America to live with his brother, who, like their father, is serving in the US Air Force in South Carolina, and is running his own car rental business.
The book is published by Outskirts Press, costs £4.95, and is available online from retailers such as Tesco, WHSmith and Amazon.co.uk
