Published Date: 21 August 2008
Angels whistling past
fast overhead and low
yet obscured by low-level cloud today
but no mistaking the proud sound
of RAF No.1 Fighter Squadron.
Jump jets jumping off the ground
hurtling round and round
chasing each others' tail
and imaginary
hail of tracer
Seen on Head Up Display

And daily the display goes on
as men of iron keep us from
the envious eyes
of those who would invade us

If it were not for the likes of them.
