Hundreds of people celebrated the life of a popular musician at an emotionally charged concert in Peterborough on Wednesday night.
Friends, relatives and fans packed into the Broadway Theatre in the city centre as fellow artists, including Jeye Severe and Damian Charles, teamed up to pay tribute to one of Peterborough's most popular stars – Jason Bennett.

Known to all who danced and listened to his music in the city's clubs as J Denzel, the 26-year-old was found dead at his flat in Ledham, Orton Brimbles, Peterborough, on October 30 last year.

The news of his death shocked the city and led to an outpouring of grief.

The father of two boys and a girl was a popular figure in music, and had recently returned from Ayia Napa, in Cyprus, and also Malia, in Crete, where he worked as an MC.

He had launched his own record label, JMA Soul Records, and had released a successful album called It Is What It Is, which is on sale in HMV, in Cathedral Square, Peterborough, and a video for one of his singles is still being shown on satellite station Channel U.

See readers' tributes and more pictures in Friday's ET.

Special Report: Jason Bennett.
