A GROUP of drivers who swapped their coaches for bicycles to tackle a 100-mile bike ride for charity have handed over two huge cheques.
Some 17 employees from Gretton's Coaches, based in Newark Road, Peterborough, grabbed their helmets and knee pads to embark on the trip from Peterborough to Cromer, in Norfolk, in July.

The sponsored event raised a total of £2,650, which was split between Sue Ryder Care and the Special Care Baby Unit at Peterborough District Hospital.

Linda Gretton, who owns the coach company with her husband Roger, said: "It went well and they all really enjoyed it.

"There's a personal angle behind why we chose the charities. One of our employees has been in the Sue Ryder Care hospice and a close friend of mine is in there at the moment.

"We chose to raise money for the neonatal unit because we have a couple of employees whose partners have just had babies, and it brings home what a good cause it is."
