(Elite League B) HE will long be remembered as a past hero and will more than likely become a future club star, but last night Hans Andersen was a present day destroyer of Panthers.
Andersen, who left the city club amid much acrimony over unpaid wages and sponsorship last month, collected a paid maximum when helping his new employers defeat his owners at Brandon.

For the Danish racer it was just another day at the office and for depleted Panthers it was a typically disappointing trip in a campaign full of heavy away setbacks.

Andersen and his new team-mates barely had to break sweat to shake off a rather poor challenge from the city side - British boys Chris Harris and Olly Allen also completing full houses with reserve Ben Barker banging in a mighty paid 15-point haul.

The Bees were reduced to only five fit riders after Simon Stead and Robbie Kessler were injured in a horror back straight, heat seven smash but their superiority was never in any doubt.

They could only send one rider to the tapes for two races, but Pan- thers did not take advantage.

"I didn't treat this meeting any differently to any other," admitted Andersen. "I am just here to do my job and I think I did that by getting a maximum.

"I always felt we would get a win against Peterborough, but I never expected it to be quite so easy - especially as we were down to five riders for most of the meeting."

Panthers provided just three race winners and managed only two heat advantages, both of which arrived when a rider was being deployed for double points.

The busy Danny King gave a good account of himself with two successes in a 15-point haul, while Kenneth Bjerre's successful tactical ride in the re-run of the seventh contest was the highlight of his 10 points.

Young Aussie guest Kozza Smith bagged a couple of points after accepting the thankless task of stepping into absent skipper Ryan Sullivan's shoes at number one, but other members of the Panthers corps under-performed chronically.

GP rider Lukas Dryml looked seriously out of sorts as he endured a retirement, a fall and managed only 3+1 from his four outings, while reserve duo Henning Bager and Claus Vissing could only contribute three points apiece despite taking to the track for a combined 11 rides.

Panthers team boss Trevor Swales said: "It was a bad night at the office - simple as that.

"We are not riding well enough as a team and the boys have got to start looking out for each other a lot more.

"On the other hand, Coventry were strong and in Ben Barker they had a reserve really on song.

"You can't argue with paid 15 points and he earned them the hard way as well."

And you can't argue that Pan- thers will have to perform much better at table-topping Poole to avoid a miserable Bank Holiday Monday.
