Cockle is hoping to flex his muscles if called uponJAMES Cockle is waiting in the wings in case opportunity should knock.
The March-based 21 year-old is Panthers' number eight rider for the 2008 season and he hopes he can use th
e role as a springboard into full-time Elite League racing in the future.
Cockle's main duties this year lie with his Premier League club Mildenhall (he will be in action for them here at Alwalton tonight in the curtain-raising challenge clash) but he has promised to be ready, willing and able should he get a Panthers call.
Cockle said: "It is a great opportunity for me and one I hope to take if Panthers ever need me.
"I want to progress as far as I can in the sport and it would be wonderful if I could go from being the number eight this year to a full member of the Peterborough team next."
Cockle finds himself in the unfamiliar position of representing two clubs well within an hour of his home.
His past two teams have been Glasgow and Sheffield.
"The travelling has done me in, so it is nice to be riding just about as close to home as possible," added Cockle.
"It also means that I can do a regular job as well and earn some money for change!"
